DIY RUIN

DIY Ruin
Info: 2016, turned poplar, 18" x 16" x 16" each, oil paint pickling, felt
System: Study Center

This sculptural furniture, called DIY Ruin, takes its shape from smugglers who took ancient columns away in sections. This project draws on the North American adoption of classical motifs in the organization of social life and of social space on campus.

This project is made with a lathe in hand turned poplar or in plywood on a CNC machine. Caroline Woolard designed, prototyped, and produced the first CNC iteration of this project in a week as the marker in residence at WeMake in Milan. This furniture will be shown with the Capitoline Wolves at Cornell University from September-December 2016.
